Enters into Association
with Amazon Books and Music

 

Dateline 1-Oct-1998: Narcolepsy Internet entered into an agreement with Amazon Books and Music to display their logo on its pages. Narcolepsy Internet, the leading WWW site for PWN, has recently added Amazon associatation buttons on most of its web pages.

Amazon provides a small portion of it proceeds to Narcolepsy Internet from purchases made using the association link. If you "click" on an Amazon icon that is displayed on a Narcolepsy Internet page and then purchase a book or CD from Amazon, you support Narcolepsy Internet. (Note, if you go to Amazon without going through the Narcolepsy Internet link, you are not indicating to Amazon that your purchase supports Narcolepsy Internet.)

Nothing is free. The internet domains associated with [N] has its costs. Presently, Oasis Telecommunications donates WWW services to us. The mailing list is hosted by MV Communications as a service to the list owner, a paying customer. These pages are created using MacroMedia and Adobe products -- none of these products are free.

Narcolepsy Internet's presence on the net grows daily. Each month the number of people looking at our web pages increases. We have been doubling our readership every month since the "Narcolepsy.Org" domain was created. Even on our slowest days, we have over 300 people learning about Narcolepsy. While OT has been extreamly generous, at some time, we should expect to at least contribute to their operational expense.

In total Narcolepsy Internet operational expenses have exceeded $1000 US this year. All these expenses are born through private donations.

Entering into the Amazon program is an attempt to secure income that can help defer expenses. This will allow for future growth. Presently, expenses are expected to exceed any small revenue from affiliate programs. Any "profit" that might be made will be donated to other organizations that support Narcolepsy-oriented education.
